This gallery is full of miscellaneous summer photos.
Summers Mill in Salado – May 2024
Summers Mill Conference Center just outside of Salado is a wonderful place to rest and enjoy God's creation. Dale and I spent just one night there recently. I was recovering from the flu so we took it easy. We really enjoyed it.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado – May 2024
Dale and I have been the target of Wyndham's Vacation Club. We've enjoyed the attention. We've stayed in Napa, Anaheim, Arkansas, and now Colorado for minimal cost to us. This trip to Steamboat Springs is our last fling. We turned them down one more time. We really enjoyed the trip though and made some friends along the way.
Wild Flower Road Trip – April 2024
Dale and I spent a day on some of the best Central Texas highways to see wild flowers. We were not disappointed.
Old Photos
I enjoy looking back on my life. It's been so good. There were hard times, but God never fails me. I have so much to be thankful for.
Arkansas – November 2023
Dale and I headed to Arkansas on November 25 for a short trip to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We visited some of the places I had visited as a child, such as Mount Magazine and Petit Jean State Park. Though most of the leaves had fallen there was quite a bit of color on Petit Jean. It was a beautiful trip.
Spain – October 2023
I was fortunate to join a team from our church to serve pilgrims who are walking El Camino de Santiago, or The Way of St. James, a 500-mile spiritual pilgrimage to the Cathedral of St. James in Santiago de Compostela. We spent seven days working at an albergue (hostel) and sharing Jesus.
Anaheim – August 2023
I guess our most chill stay yet was in Anaheim. We stayed at the Worldmark Resort right across from Disney, for six days. We aren't interested in Disney parks and Dale worked the whole time, so we didn't have many excursions.
From Napa to Anaheim – August 2023
We departed Napa on a Friday morning and took three days to get to Anaheim. On the first day we drove from Napa to Monterey. On the second day we made it to Santa Barbara, then arrived at Anaheim on Sunday.

Our last day in Napa we headed back to San Fransico for a guided sunset tour of the Point Bonita Lighthouse, which is located at the entrance to the San Francisco Bay.
Castello di Amorosa Winery – July 2023
We visited Castello di Amorosa, a winery located near Calistoga, California. It is the project of a fourth-generation vintner, Dario Sattui, who also owns and operates the V. Sattui Winery named after his great-grandfather, Vittorio Sattui, who originally established a winery in San Francisco in 1885 after emigrating from Italy to California. Key details and building techniques are architecturally faithful to the 12th and 13th century time period. Adrian found this and wanted to visit. It was a lot of fun.
Vino Bella Resort & Downtown Napa – July 2023
We spent twelve days at Wyndham's Vino Bella Resort in Napa. It was a beautiful place with a vineyard on the property and open to guests. I spent a lot of time walking through it. Our son and daughter-in-law were also able to come stay with us for six days. It was a wonderful time.

MacKerricher State Park – July 2023
Half way between McKinleyville and Napa we stayed the night at a California state park on the coast. State parks are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get! Haha Fortunately, this one was chocolate covered peanuts with caramel.
Founders Grove – July 2023
After leaving McKinleyville, Dale and I headed south to Napa, our next destination. However, we saw as much as we could on the way, including a drive down Avenue of the Giants and a hike through Founders Grove. It is a fairly short hike but full of many beautiful, large Redwoods.

One Thursday evening after work we went to Fern Canyon which is a canyon in the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in Humboldt County. Boy Scout Tree Trail – July 2023
Boy Scout Tree Trail is a 5.8 mile-long, serene escape into beguiling, prehistoric woods. The trail is also tucked away from the main road, providing captivating peace in a hushed forest. The actual boy scout tree is impressive.
Trillium Falls Trail – July 2023
The Trillium Falls Trail loops through a remnant strip of old-growth redwoods located in Redwoods National Park just about 35 minutes from where we are staying. It was a great after-work hike. These are just a few of the many photos I took.
Trip From Bend to McKinleyville – July 2023
It’s a nine hour drive from Bend, Oregon to McKinleyville, California if you go directly west to Florence, then hit the 101 headed south. But we had two days, so we took our time. We camped halfway at Sunset Bay State Park.
Fort Rock State Park – July 2023
We spent Fourth of July exploring Fort Rock State Park in Oregon. It was about an hour away from Bend. Fort Rock was created when basalt magma rose to the surface and encountered the wet muds of a lake bottom. It's hard to believe this used to be a lake.
Mount Bachelor & Todd Lake – July 2023

Crater Lake National Park – July 2023
We decided to make the two-hour drive south to Crater Lake National Park and we are so glad we did. It was an extraordinary sight. We didn't realize it was the deepest lake in the United States until we got there. It turned out to be the cherry on top of our overall Oregon volcanic adventures.
Sahalie Falls and Clear Lake – June 2023
On Sunday afternoon we headed to Sahalie Falls and Koosah Falls, which are located along the West Cascades National Scenic Byway. It was a short but very beautiful trail. After that we went a couple of miles down the road to Clear Lake to have lunch and rent a boat. Clear Lake is a mountain lake that is primarily fed by snow runoff from nearby Mount Washington and the surrounding areas.
Smith Rock State Park – June 2023
Smith Rock State Park is in the High Desert area so it was much warmer than Bend. The park is know for rock climbing and has more than 1,500 climbing routes! Climbers from all over the world come to climb. Also, Crooked River runs through the park, which adds to the park's beauty.

We spent three nights camping in Grand Teton National Park. It was incredible. Read my post and find out more.
Kanarra Falls Trail – May 2023
Just a few minutes from our place in Cedar City was the Kanarra Falls Trail. It was incredibly exciting to walk through a slot canyon like this. Due to excessive snow melt we were unable to do the slot canyon while at Zion, but we made up for it by going to Kanarra. However, the water at Kanarra was much higher and swifter than normal, and extremely cold! It was very worth it though!
Bryce Canyon National Park – May 2023
Dale and I spent just one night at Bryce Canyon, May 20. We have never seen anything like the hoodoos, which are the tower-like rocks that filled the Bryce Amphitheater. The days were warm but the nights were chilly! And, an unexpected storm blew through!

Disc Golf – Extreme Edition – May 2023
After church on Sunday we tried out a disc golf course just a few minutes from us. It was crazy! The highs, lows, rocks, obstacles, scrambling, and wind made it extremely challenging. I skipped the last two baskets because I felt unsafe!

Central Texas in Spring is a great time to go camping. These photos are two different camping trips that took place two weeks apart. The first one in mid-March was chilly! The second one the end of March was warm. The kids and us all had camping gear we wanted to give a trial run. We all had fun on both trips. Some friends and family came out to visit the second trip.

It was all so beautiful!

We spent our second weekend in Massachusetts visiting Salem. The city has developed a booming tourism industry based on the witch trials that took place here in the 1690s. Dale and I focused on the history and architecture and enjoyed the day very much.
